EhhhI skimmed through a lot of this one, and it was kind of boring。 I'm glad this is almost done, and these were free to consume, lol EhhhI skimmed through a lot of this one, and it was kind of boring。 I'm glad this is almost done, and these were free to consume, lol 。。。more

Deaver's third short story in The Broken Doll collection zips along just as fast as the first two instalments。 There's good characterisation & more Deaver twists to entertain the reader once again。 Deaver's third short story in The Broken Doll collection zips along just as fast as the first two instalments。 There's good characterisation & more Deaver twists to entertain the reader once again。 。。。more

In this third installment of Deaver's The Broken Doll series of connected short stories, we meet prosecutor Evan Quill, who is trying to bring justice to a man he believes to be the enforcer for sadistic crime boss Paul Offenbach, who was featured in the first two stories。 Another thread that joins the stories together is that Quill is in an on-again, off-again relationship with Constant Marlowe, the special agent we met in the second story。 In this third installment of Deaver's The Broken Doll series of connected short stories, we meet prosecutor Evan Quill, who is trying to bring justice to a man he believes to be the enforcer for sadistic crime boss Paul Offenbach, who was featured in the first two stories。 Another thread that joins the stories together is that Quill is in an on-again, off-again relationship with Constant Marlowe, the special agent we met in the second story。 。。。more

This was a bit of a curious experience。 I liked it and it was written skillfully, but it didn't leave me with the same sense of satisfaction at the end compared to the first two offerings。 While the misdirections from the first two stories usually had me smirking and nodding at a job well done, a particular misdirection in this one rubbed me the wrong way。 Maybe because this book ends with a bummer feeling and a definite L on the board for Team Good Guy。 Everything happening felt relevant to the This was a bit of a curious experience。 I liked it and it was written skillfully, but it didn't leave me with the same sense of satisfaction at the end compared to the first two offerings。 While the misdirections from the first two stories usually had me smirking and nodding at a job well done, a particular misdirection in this one rubbed me the wrong way。 Maybe because this book ends with a bummer feeling and a definite L on the board for Team Good Guy。 Everything happening felt relevant to the overall events of the plot, but also came across as somewhat peripheral and meaningless in the grand scheme of things。 Maybe this will grow on me after thinking about it for a while, but in the meantime, I want to get back to the events of The Pain Hunter。 。。。more

This is the third story in Jeffrey Deaver's inter-related group called The Broken Doll, which is one of the best things I have read this year。 In fact, I read the whole set in one night because I couldn't put it down。 Each one was riveting, and the tie-in was masterfully written。 This is the third story in Jeffrey Deaver's inter-related group called The Broken Doll, which is one of the best things I have read this year。 In fact, I read the whole set in one night because I couldn't put it down。 Each one was riveting, and the tie-in was masterfully written。 。。。more

The third installment of 4 interlocking short stories in the Broken Doll series。 This one concerns a prosecuting attorney in the courtroom trying an accomplice of the villain in the first two installments, Paul Offenbach。 The drama in the courtroom was intense, and Deaver does an excellent job in describing it。 I can't say that the twist at the end was unexpected, because if was leading in a direction that didn't make sense。 Again, I feel as if Deaver has done an excellent job in telling this ta The third installment of 4 interlocking short stories in the Broken Doll series。 This one concerns a prosecuting attorney in the courtroom trying an accomplice of the villain in the first two installments, Paul Offenbach。 The drama in the courtroom was intense, and Deaver does an excellent job in describing it。 I can't say that the twist at the end was unexpected, because if was leading in a direction that didn't make sense。 Again, I feel as if Deaver has done an excellent job in telling this tale。 。。。more

The short series continues with Book 3 and does not disappoint。 Following Evan, a prosecutor, doing his level best to ensure a trial goes his way。 Some great plot twists make for an entertaining read。4 stars。

Well Written, But Difficult to Keep the ‘Broken Doll’ Series StraightThis wasn’t a bad story, and it was an OK tale。 But, the way that this ‘Broken Doll’ series is pieced together is just weird and not helpful to The Reader。 For instance, after having read the 3rd installment (Pain Hunter) first, I’d have never guessed the ending from this third story (Execution Day), which precedes the 1st … this is almost as bad as getting your mind wrapped around Time Travel …

Book 3 of 4 was Great tooThis is book 3 of a 4 book series that is free to Amazon prime members。 This is a well written story with characters that are developed in amazing detail。 This series is a must read for Deaver fans。

Thought provoking The characters are again awesome, nice little twist, several really, full of life’s meaning。To be continued I hope。 Can not wait

An Illinois prosecutor has a calculating killer on trial。 With time running out, can he prove that the defendant is guilty beyond reasonable doubt。Apart from a misleading title, "Execution Day" is a fast paced and absorbing short story, which begins to unravel the mystery of 'The Broken Doll'。 An Illinois prosecutor has a calculating killer on trial。 With time running out, can he prove that the defendant is guilty beyond reasonable doubt。Apart from a misleading title, "Execution Day" is a fast paced and absorbing short story, which begins to unravel the mystery of 'The Broken Doll'。 。。。more

Once again this one is not what it seems at first glance。 And sadly the good guys don't win。 I hated how things were manipulated! Once again this one is not what it seems at first glance。 And sadly the good guys don't win。 I hated how things were manipulated! 。。。more

Broken doll seriesGood stories but would have preferred it all in one novel。 A bit too disjointed。 Still, enjoyed the read nevertheless。

Patty

I disagree with whoever stated that you can read these books as stand alone or not in order。

Brilliant twisty short story。 Number 3 of 4 in the Broken Doll seriesCan be read as a standalone but they all inter weave
